Originally part of my annual Chinese New Year series for 2017 (it's the Year of the Cock) this whimsical piece shows a long-necked  phallic rooster with no feathers or wings, about to begin running -- picking up speed for take-off.

Fiercely independent, he doesn't need wings (or anything else, or anyone) to become airborne.  Or so he thinks.
